About Us

St. John Bosco Catholic Elementary School has provided excellence in Catholic education in  Port Colborne for more than 80 years. Originally built in 1944 by the Humberstone Village Separate School Board, the school expanded in 1954 to meet the needs of a growing community. In 1999, it merged with Holy Cross Catholic Elementary School (established in 1967) to become the St. John Bosco Catholic Elementary School we know today.

The school is named for St. John Bosco, an Italian priest known for his care of marginalized youth in his community. St. John Bosco opened orphanages and trade schools for young boys, intended to keep them on the path to righteousness. Students at St. John Bosco learn and grow together in faith, led by dedicated Catholic teachers who deliver excellence in Catholic education in a caring, inclusive learning environment.

Currently, the school serves approximately 250 students from kindergarten through Grade 8 and is home to the Greyhounds (future Lakeshore Catholic Gators). Families have access to convenient before and after-school childcare at St. John Bosco through A Child’s World Early Learning.

St. John Bosco is part of the Lakeshore Catholic High School family of schools and the St. John Bosco parish community.
